Do you need to take your shoes of for a waxing service?

No, but if it makes you feel more comfortable during your appointment, please do. The linens and waxing pad are changed and sanitized between each client, so don’t worry about soiling the table.

How long does it take for the hair to grow back?

You will start to see some hair growth within the first 2 weeks, but full regrowth could take up to 6 weeks.

Will my hair stop growing eventually?

Overtime waxing will make the hair thinner and sparser. Repetitive removal of the hair out of the follicle can damage it, but most likely won’t make your hair growth stop completely.

Does waxing or shaving make my hair come back thicker?

No! Waxing or shaving does NOT make your hair grow back darker or thicker. The only things that will impact your hair growth and texture will be hormonal shifts (i.e., pregnancy or menopause) or some medications. Waxing will actually make your hair sparser over time, making it more superior than shaving.

Can I wax on my menstrual cycle?

Yes, as long as you are wearing a tampon. You may be more sensitive to pain around your cycle, taking Ibuprofen before will help with the discomfort.

Your first time waxing can be uncomfortable. Sticking to a 3-4 week schedule will make the process more comfortable. Make sure you drink plenty of water, cut back on the caffeine, and take a couple Ibuprofen before your appointment. I do everything to make it the most comfortable and pain free experience!

TIPS FOR YOUR FIRST BRAZILIAN WAX

Dress Comfortably

If you are new to waxing, we recommend wearing loose comfortable clothing, preferably breathable material like cotton. Dresses, skirts and sweatpants are always a good option! Some seasoned waxers are comfortable wearing their everyday attire.

To Trim or Not to Trim?

Pubic hair can never be too long to wax, although having longer hair can make the service more uncomfortable. Trimming the hair down to no less than ¼ of an inch will result in a more pleasant waxing experience. If you are not comfortable trimming the hair please come as is.

Aftercare Matters

Things will be a bit tender for a day or two after your service. Plan to wear your softest, preferably cotton underwear and try not to participate in any activities that will cause extra...we'll say...chafing or exfoliating for about 72 hours. Lastly, don't apply any products that are not pre-approved in my waxing salon.

Don't Stress

Even though this is your first time getting a wax, I've been doing this for over 10 years. I've walked many women through their first wax. I promise there is no judgment on my end. My goal is to make you appointment as smooth (pun intended) and comfortable as possible. Taking a Tylenol or Advil 2 hours before your service can help with discomfort.

How long does the hair need to be for waxing?

The ideal length of hair is 1/4 inch or longer, this is about 2 weeks of no shaving.
How often should I wax?

I recommend waxing every three to four weeks. The hair will become finer and softer, making it easier and less painful to remove.
Can I have someone else in the room with me?

No. Having multiple people in the room can be distracting and take away from a great service!
How old do I have to be to receive a bikini service?

If you are under the age of 18, I ask that you bring a legal guardian with you to sign off.
What type of wax do you use?

The Skin & Wax Co. uses hard wax from head to toe. Hard wax is gentle on the skin, effective, and best of all more painless than traditional soft wax.
Can you wax the inside of my nose?

Yes, the inside of your nostril is safe to be waxed. The nose can be a sensitive area but waxing it is not as bad as it sounds. The wax is applied into the nostril with a small tongue depressor and left to dry for a few seconds, it is then removed with a quick tug, all you’ll feel is a bit of pressure.
Do you wax men?

Yes, men are always welcome to come have some pampering done! The most common waxing services for men are eyebrows, noses, and backs. The Skin & Wax Co. does not wax men under the underwear line.
Do you do eyebrow threading?

At this time, The Skin & Wax Co. does not offer eyebrow threading.
Can I wax while on my menstrual cycle?

Yes, it is safe to wax on your menstrual cycle as long as you are wearing a tampon.
